Richard Leroy Groce, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on July 7, 2026, at the age of 78, after courageously battling several illnesses. Born on February 12, 1948, in Philadelphia, Richard's life was a testament to resilience, love, and dedication.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers George Carey and Bob Groce, and his sisters Donna and Sandra. He is survived by his devoted wife of 30 years, Rose Hyson, who stood by his side through all of life's joys and challenges. He leaves behind his cherished brother Edward Groce and sister June, his loving children Cliff Groce, Chris Groce, and Colleen Hazewski, as well as his daughter-in-law Lisette Groce and son-in-law Joe Hazewski. Richard was also a proud stepfather to George Ivanchenko and the adored grandfather of six grandchildren who brought immense joy to his life.
For over 30 years, Richard worked as a skilled plumber, a career he loved until a severe leg injury led him to retire. His work ethic and dedication were admired by all who knew him. Richard was a faithful member of Milmay Christian Church, where he found comfort and community.
A man of simple pleasures, Richard found great joy in gardening, spending time with his loyal dog Abbey, and cheering on his beloved Philly sports teams. His garden was his sanctuary, a place where he nurtured not only plants but also his soul.
A service to celebrate Richard's life will be held on July 11, 2026, at 12:00 PM at the Ramoth Naverene Church, located at 2725 N Delaware Dr, Vineland, NJ 08360. The family welcomes all who knew Richard to join them in honoring his memory.
