In Loving Memory

Richard John Hartman
June 20, 1956 — July 5, 2026
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Richard John Hartman, who departed this life on July 5th, 2026, at the age of 70. Born on June 20th, 1956, in Everett, Washington, Richard was the beloved son of Gerald Lawrence Hartman and Patricia Hartman, who predeceased him along with his infant daughter, Leah.
From his early days in Petaluma, California, where he graduated from Petaluma High School in 1974, to his final years, Richard's life was marked by a profound love for family, friends, and community. He found his lifelong partner in Georgiann Moses, whom he married on December 7th, 1985. Together, they built a rich and fulfilling life, raising three wonderful children: Jerry, Jennie, and Marie.
Richard was a man of many passions. His love for mules and horses was rivaled only by his pride in being a patriot and his admiration for all things made in America. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life, from riding motorcycles and dirt bikes to tending to the cows at the dairy, camping trips or simply anything outdoors. A true craftsman at heart, he enjoyed welding, anything mechanical, tinkering with projects (even if things never got done) and getting on his tractor; often passing down his skills to his children.
Richard's warmth and generosity were legendary. Known for his lengthy conversations peppered with his frequent "but anyways," he had an uncanny ability to make everyone feel at home, provided they respected his one rule: no hats inside. His home was a sanctuary of hospitality, open to family and friends alike. Richard's kindness was not reserved solely for those he knew—his helping hand extended to strangers, embodying the very spirit of community and goodwill.
Richard's legacy lives on through his beloved wife Georgie, his cherished children Jerry, Jennie, and Marie, and his treasured grandson Bradley. He is also survived by his dear cousin August and his unborn grandson, who will undoubtedly carry forward his love for life and his generous spirit.
As we celebrate Richard's life, we remember a man whose heart was as expansive as his love for adventure.
Richard John Hartman will be remembered not just for the life he led, but for the love he shared and the lives he touched. While he will be deeply missed, his memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
