Richard Honetschlager

March 15, 1932 — June 3, 2026

It is with heavy hearts yet profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Richard Honetschlager, a cherished father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and advocate for the aging, who left this world peacefully on June 3, 2026, at the age of 94. Born on March 15, 1932, Richard was a beacon of kindness and compassion in a world that often forgets the power of such qualities. Throughout his life, he touched countless lives with his gentle spirit and unwavering commitment to helping others. As an impassioned advocate for the elderly, Richard dedicated his life to ensuring that seniors received the care and resources they deserved. He guided thousands through the often-complex systems, ensuring they had access to low-cost medications and the care they needed, fostering dignity and respect for a generation that had given so much. Richard was predeceased by his loving wife, Mary Joanne, with whom he shared a beautiful journey marked by love and mutual respect. Together, they created a family that stands as a testament to their shared values of love, resilience, and community. He is survived by his beloved children, Joni VanBeek and her husband Al, Susan Quigley and her husband David, and Lori Breen and her husband Deny. Richard found immense joy in his role as a grandfather to Alan Vanbeek and Toni Gaal, and a great-grandfather to Juliette Gaal. His family was his pride and joy, and his legacy of warmth and generosity will be carried forward by them. Richard’s life will be celebrated in a private ceremony, a reflection of his humble nature and the quiet dignity with which he lived his life. Though he is no longer with us in body, Richard’s spirit endures in the lives he touched, the family he nurtured, and the community he served so selflessly. In honoring his memory, we are reminded of the power of kindness and the enduring impact of a life dedicated to the service of others. As we bid farewell to this extraordinary man, let us carry forward his legacy by championing compassion and advocacy in our own lives. May we find comfort in knowing that Richard’s life was one of purpose and love, and that his memory will forever remain a guiding light in our hearts. Rest in peace, dear Richard. You have left an indelible mark on this world and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing you.
