As an impassioned advocate for the elderly, Richard dedicated his life to ensuring that seniors received the care and resources they deserved. He guided thousands through the often-complex systems, ensuring they had access to low-cost medications and the care they needed, fostering dignity and respect for a generation that had given so much. Richard was predeceased by his loving wife, Mary Joanne, with whom he shared a beautiful journey marked by love and mutual respect. Together, they created a family that stands as a testament to their shared values of love, resilience, and community. He is survived by his beloved children, Joni VanBeek and her husband Al, Susan Quigley and her husband David, and Lori Breen and her husband Deny. Richard found immense joy in his role as a grandfather to Alan Vanbeek and Toni Gaal, and a great-grandfather to Juliette Gaal. His family was his pride and joy, and his legacy of warmth and generosity will be carried forward by them. Richard’s life will be celebrated in a private ceremony, a reflection of his humble nature and the quiet dignity with which he lived his life. Though he is no longer with us in body, Richard’s spirit endures in the lives he touched, the family he nurtured, and the community he served so selflessly.
