May 7, 1935 — March 1, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Richard Harting, who departed this world on March 1, 2026, after a recent battle with illness. Born on May 7, 1935, in Kansas City, MO, Richard lived a life enriched with love, music, and faith, leaving behind a legacy of kindness that will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew him. Richard was the beloved son of Wesley and Cathryn Harting, who instilled in him a deep appreciation for the beauty of music and the importance of humility. As a young man, he ventured to New York City, where he worked at a music store for several years. It was here that Richard’s passion for music flourished, and he became a skilled pianist, sharing his love for music with friends and strangers alike. Richard was a devoted member of the Master's Touch Church for over 20 years. His faith was an integral part of his life, and he found great joy in studying scripture and fellowshipping with his church family. His kindness and humble demeanor were a testament to his deep-seated spirituality, and he touched the lives of many with his gentle spirit and generous heart. In addition to his church family, Richard cherished the company of his sister, Marjorie, and her husband, Shannon Clugston. He also leaves behind an extended family of friends who became a vital part of his journey, each one touched by his unwavering compassion and warmth. A celebration of Richard's life will be held on March 26, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the Central Christian Center Fellowship Hall, located at 410 S Virginia, Joplin, MO. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of a man who brought light into the lives of many through his music, faith, and unyielding kindness. As we bid farewell to Richard, we do so with gratitude for the love he shared and the memories he created. Though he has left this earthly realm, his spirit will forever resonate in the symphony of our hearts. May he rest in peace, embraced by the music of the heavens.
