July 30, 1960 — March 14, 2026

Richard Harris, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2026, at the age of 65, surrounded by loved ones at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born on July 30, 1960, in Union, South Carolina, Richard lived a life full of love, adventure, and dedication to family. Richard was the cherished son of Mamie Louise Harris, who predeceased him, along with his sister Ann Sprouse, brother Tim Harris, and stepfather Archie Buddy Harris. Despite the loss of these dear family members, Richard's spirit remained resilient, and his love for family was unwavering. He is survived by his devoted wife, Maryann Harris, who stood by his side through every chapter of life with unwavering support and love. Richard's legacy continues through his children, Margo Kirk and her husband Rodney Harris, Pamela Harris, and Amanda Skates and her husband Fred Skates. His family was the pride and joy of his life, and he took immense pleasure in spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought him endless happiness. Richard was affectionately known as "Pawpaw" to his eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, who will forever hold his memory dear in their hearts. Throughout his life, Richard was known for his hardworking nature and commitment to his career. He retired from Expopack, where he dedicated many years of service. Colleagues remember him not only for his work ethic but also for the kindness and camaraderie he shared with everyone he met. Outside of work, Richard had a passion for adventure and was an avid motorcycle rider. He cherished the freedom of the open road, often embarking on rides that took him through the rolling hills and scenic landscapes of South Carolina. His love for motorcycles was more than a hobby—it was a way of life that brought him immense joy and peace. Richard's life was a testament to love, resilience, and the importance of family. His warmth, wisdom, and generous spirit touched the lives of all who knew him. He was a man who lived fully, loved deeply, and left a lasting impact on everyone he encountered. A celebration of Richard's life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor his memory and share stories of the incredible life he led. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of choice in Richard's name, continuing his legacy of generosity and kindness. As we say goodbye to a remarkable man, we take solace in knowing that Richard's spirit lives on in the hearts of those who loved him. May he rest in peace, riding the eternal highways of the heavens.
