His great-granddaughter, Amelia Vieth, our sweet angel, also predeceased him, leaving a tender space in his heart. This dedication to service extended beyond his military career, as he built a long and successful career as an electrician with Phelps Dodge Mining Company. His work ethic and commitment to excellence inspired those who had the privilege to work alongside him. In service to his community, Richard was an active member and officer with the Elks, and he served as President of the Morenci Lions Club, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to helping others. His presence was a source of strength and compassion, always ready to lend a hand or offer a kind word. Richard’s passions were as varied as they were profound. An avid outdoorsman, he found joy in fishing and hunting, savoring the tranquility of nature. He was also a skilled woodworker, crafting pieces that reflected his attention to detail and love of craftsmanship. Richard’s soul resonated with the melodies of old country western music and the soothing harmonies of Christian hymns, which brought him great peace and joy throughout his life.
