Richard Gregory Vandemore

Richard Gregory Vandemore, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, peacefully concluded his journey on August 22, 2026, surrounded by the warmth and love of his family. Born on November 2, 1937, in Seattle, Washington, Richard was the cherished son of Charles and Rose Vandemore. He was predeceased by his parents and his dear brother, Donald Vandemore. Richard's life was a testament to love and dedication. In Culver City, California, on November 28, 1959, he married the love of his life, Marilla Chambers. Together, they built a beautiful life over 66 years, raising three wonderful children: Julia Aldrich (Bruce), Greg Vandemore (Patty), and James Vandemore. Richard's family was his pride and joy, and his legacy continues through his grandchildren, Ryan Aldrich (Beth), Adrian Aldrich, and Marilla Zenner (Gillette), as well as his great-grandchildren, Grant, Rj, Jamison, Forrest, Maxwell, and Marilla Mae. He is also survived by his devoted sister, Diane Bridges (Steve). A graduate of Cleveland High School in Seattle, Richard was a man of many talents. He served his country with honor as a Radio Teletype Operator in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1958. Following his service, Richard pursued his passion for art, creating abstract paintings that reflected his unique perspective on life. His works were distinctive, often incorporating playful elements that brought joy to those who viewed them. Richard was an avid golfer, spending countless hours on the green, which became his sanctuary after retirement. His love for the game was rivaled only by his passion for motorcycles. He was a free spirit who found solace and adventure on the open road, always ready for a good ride. Above all, Richard was a family man, devoted to those he loved. He was a guiding light, showering his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with love and wisdom. His presence will be profoundly missed, but his spirit will continue to guide his family and friends. A funeral service to celebrate Richard's life will be held on November 2, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., at All Saints Catholic Church, located at 3330 14th St. Lewiston, Idaho. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Life Care and Ascend Hospice for their compassionate care during Richard's final days. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in memory of Richard. His generosity and love will continue to touch lives, just as he did throughout his remarkable journey.
