In Loving Memory

Richard Blackford III
July 31, 1985 — April 14, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Richard Allen Blackford III, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, who left this world far too soon on April 14, 2026, at the age of 40 in Texarkana, Texas. Born on July 31, 1985, in Toledo, Ohio, Richard was a beacon of joy and kindness, whose spirit touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Richard, affectionately known to many as Rick, was the cherished son of the late Richard Allen Blackford II and Theresa Comeau-Forrester. Raised in a family that valued love and togetherness, Rick carried these principles into every aspect of his life. Although he was preceded in death by his parents, it brings solace to his family and friends knowing he is reunited with them in peace.
Rick’s journey in life was marked by his generous heart and infectious sense of humor. Those who knew Rick often described him as a "giant teddy bear," always ready to lend a helping hand and bring a smile to those around him. His ability to light up a room with his presence was matched only by the warmth of his embrace and the sincerity of his friendship.
A family man through and through, Rick was devoted to his wife, Amanda Blackford, with whom he shared 15 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and the occasional playful mischief. Rick was a proud father to their three children, Ricky, Mathew, and Summer. He cherished every moment spent with them, whether it was playing guitar, cooking up a storm in the kitchen, or simply enjoying family time. His children were his pride and joy, and he took immense pleasure in being their dad.
Rick's legacy lives on through his surviving family, including his beloved wife Amanda; his children, Richard IV, Mathew, and Summer; and his siblings, Mark Blackford, Jordan Smith, and Marisa (Dustin) Damm-McMahan. He also leaves behind his stepfather, Earl Forrester, and special family friends Kristen Jordan and Adam DeLauter, along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and countless friends who were touched by his kindness and humor.
To honor Rick’s memory, a private funeral ceremony will be held, followed by a memorial service open to friends and family on May 27th, 2026, in Stamps, Arkansas. This gathering will celebrate the vibrant life Rick led and the indelible mark he left on everyone he met.
As we say goodbye to Rick, we remember a man who lived his life with love, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to those he held dear. While his physical presence is no longer with us, his spirit and the memories we shared will forever remain etched in our hearts.
The family of Richard Allen Blackford III would like to express their heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Rick’s memory by performing an act of kindness, as he would have done for you.
