Richard Eskew, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2026, at McClellan VA in Little Rock, Arkansas, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on March 2, 1950, in the charming town of Ferda, Arkansas, Richard was the son of Lexie and Bessie Eskew. He is predeceased by his father, Lexie, and brothers, Terry and Todd, leaving behind a legacy of love and laughter.
Richard spent his life dedicated to his family and career. As a truck driver, he traversed countless miles of open road, forming lasting friendships along the way. His colleagues and friends will remember him for his quick wit and mischievous grin, always ready with a joke to lighten the mood. Richard's humor and shenanigans left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew him.
His love for the 4th of July was unparalleled. Richard cherished the vibrant celebrations, the camaraderie of friends and family, the delightful food, and the spectacular fireworks that lit up the summer sky. It is fitting that he departed this world on a day that brought him so much joy.
Richard found love and companionship with his cherished wife, Judy, whom he married on April 29, 2012, in the picturesque town of Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Together, they created a life filled with warmth, laughter, and mutual respect. Judy remains, along with their beloved children, Caden Bewley, Chloe Bewley, and Xenlae Schembra. Richard is also survived by his devoted sisters, Linda Boley (Larry) and Patty Burton (Terry), mother in law Ruth Schuster, sister in law Carmela Freeman as well as numerous nieces and nephews who will forever hold him dear in their hearts.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at McClellan VA, CARTI, and Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center for the exceptional care and support they provided to Richard during his illness.
A service to honor and celebrate Richard's life will be held at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens. Friends and family are invited to come together in remembrance of a man who brought joy and light into their lives.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Richard's memory to an organization of your choice that supports cancer research or veterans' services, causes that were close to his heart.
Richard Eskew will be deeply missed, but his spirit, humor, and love will live on in the hearts of all those he touched.
