Rich Reed

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Rich Reed, a cherished father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Born in Kansas City on November 7, 1953, Rich lived a life full of adventure, love, and dedication until his peaceful passing from natural causes at his home on August 20, 2026. Rich was the beloved son of Elmer and Menna Lee Reed, who predeceased him. He grew up in a nurturing and loving home, sharing his childhood with his siblings, Jane Wonnell and Alan Reed. His strong family bonds were evident throughout his life, providing a foundation for the warmth and kindness he showed to everyone he met. After graduating from Topeka West High School in 1972, Rich pursued higher education at Kansas State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 1976. His academic achievements laid the groundwork for a successful career as an insurance adjuster. Rich dedicated many years to this profession, working for several companies before becoming an independent adjuster. This role allowed him to travel the country, assisting communities affected by natural disasters, and his efforts were marked by compassion and tireless dedication. Rich was a man of many passions, and he found immense joy in his vehicles, his boat, and spending tranquil days at his cabin at the Lake of the Ozarks. These hobbies were more than just pastimes; they were a testament to his love for adventure and his appreciation for the simple pleasures in life. Rich was a father to his sons, Lee Reed and Tyler Reed, and a grandfather to Bella, Grace, and Laikyn. The family wishes to honor Rich's memory by celebrating his life rather than mourning his passing. In accordance with his wishes, his ashes will be scattered, and a celebration of life will be held at a later date, to be determined. Rich's family invites all those who knew and loved him to join in this celebration when the time comes. Rich Reed will be remembered as a man of integrity, warmth, and unwavering love for his family and friends. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
