June 4, 1949 — October 3, 2026

Rich Campbell, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on October 3, 2026, after a courageous battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Born on June 4, 1949, in Portland, Oregon, Rich lived a life that was rich in love, adventure, and music. Rich was the cherished son of the late Rita Mae and Richard Campbell Sr. He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 47 years, Bonnie, his two daughters, Tracie and Alissa, and his son-in-law, Jeff. Rich's legacy continues through his beloved grandchildren, Tyler and Maya, who brought immense joy to his life. He is also survived by his siblings, Mary, Martha, David, Thomas, and Christopher, along with their spouses, and is fondly remembered as an uncle to three nephews and one niece. Rich's journey began with his education at St. Rose grade school. He attended Jesuit High School, from which he graduated in 1967. He bravely served his country in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1971, including a year stationed in Vietnam as a helicopter radio operator. His service was recognized with the Vietnam Cross Gallantry with Palm medal and the M-14 Sharpshooter award. Following his military service, Rich pursued higher education at the University of Oregon, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Transportation. For many years, Rich worked as a truck driver for the U.S. Postal Service, retiring in 2011. His commitment to service extended beyond his career as he generously volunteered as a meal delivery driver for the Clark County Meals on Wheels program, touching many lives with his kindness and dedication. Rich was a man of many passions, most notably his love for blues and rock & roll music. He delighted in playing the guitar and ukulele and he welcomed any chance to have a party! Most of all, he loved sharing his music with family and friends and could always get a crowd to sing along with him. A true "beach dude" at heart, Rich loved fishing, crabbing, and surfing in his younger years, embracing the laid-back lifestyle of the coast. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and staff at OHSU Knight Cancer Institute for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Rich's memory to the Leukemia Research Foundation. Rich's warmth, humor, and infectious spirit will forever be remembered by those who knew and loved him.
