With heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the passing of Ricardo T. Rubio, affectionately known as Richard, who departed from this world on June 10, 2026. Richard passed away peacefully in the hospital, concluding a brave and lengthy battle with kidney disease. He was 69 years old.
Born on April 5, 1957, in Slaton, Texas, Richard was the cherished son of Domingo V. Rubio and Juanita T. Rubio, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also predeceased by his beloved brothers, Domingo Rubio Jr. and Angelo Rubio. Richard carried forward the legacy of his family with dignity and grace.
Richard was a proud graduate of Slaton High, where he first found his passion for cheering on the Slaton Tigers. His enthusiasm for sports extended beyond his alma mater, as he was a true super fan of the San Francisco 49ers, following their games with unwavering loyalty and joy.
For over 30 years, Richard dedicated himself to his work at United Supermarkets, where he was more than just an employee; he was a friend, a mentor, and a cherished colleague to many. His commitment and work ethic left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Beyond his professional life, Richard was a devoted member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Slaton, Texas. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, providing him strength and comfort throughout his journey.
Richard is survived by his loving siblings, Lorenzo Rubio, Isabel Rubio Maldonado, and Toni Guevara spouse Martin Guevara each of whom held a special place in his heart. He is also remembered with deep affection by his close friend, Ted Ramirez, and his beautiful nieces and nephews, whom he adored. Richard's extended family and friends will forever miss his gentle spirit and kind nature.
A service to honor and celebrate Richard's life will be held on June 25, 2026. As we gather to remember Richard, we are reminded of the warmth, love, and laughter he brought into our lives. His memory will continue to inspire those who knew him to live with the same compassion and joy that he exemplified every day.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to organizations supporting kidney disease research in Richard's memory, as a tribute to the strength and courage he displayed throughout his illness.
Richard's life was a testament to the power of love, resilience, and community. May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may his memory be a blessing to us all.
