Obituary for Ricardo Abrajan
April 3, 1973 – May 4, 2026
It is with deep sorrow and profound love that we announce the passing of Ricardo Abrajan, who left us peacefully on May 4, 2026, after a courageous battle with kidney disease. Ricardo was born on April 3, 1973, in the vibrant city of Puebla, Mexico, to parents Sabino Silvester Abrajan and Maria Luisa Tlahuel. He was a man who carried the strength and warmth of his birthplace wherever he went.
Ricardo's early life was marked by resilience and determination. Though he did not graduate, he began supporting his family at the tender age of 14 when he moved to America. His journey led him through various paths, but it was his passion for culinary arts that defined much of his career. Ricardo spent the majority of his years working in the culinary field, where food became not only his profession but also a cherished part of his life.
In his youth, Ricardo met the love of his life, Barbara Urquizo, in the bustling city of Chicago. As teenagers, they were neighbors, and their friendship blossomed into a lifelong partnership. Together, they built a home filled with love and laughter in South Bend, where they raised five wonderful children.
Ricardo was not only a devoted husband and father but also a doting grandfather to his three grandchildren. His family was his pride and joy, and he leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.
An avid cook and gardener, Ricardo found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved spending time in his brother's garden, basking in the sunshine, and reminiscing about the memories they created together in their blue house. His passion for Mexican cuisine was unparalleled, and he delighted in planning his next culinary creation, always striving for authenticity and excellence. His recipe books, filled with his handwritten notes, stand as a testament to his culinary genius.
Ricardo was a man of humble beginnings, yet his heart was generous beyond measure. Even when he had little, he gave much. He believed in the potential of every individual and often spoke about the importance of being the best version of oneself. His belief in the American dream was steadfast, and he inspired many with his motivational spirit and wise words. Ricardo had an uncanny ability to touch hearts with his wit and wisdom, leaving a lasting impact on everyone he met.
Ricardo is predeceased by his father, Sabino Silvester Abrajan, and his brother, Juan Abrajan. He is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara; his children and grandchildren; his mother, Maria Luisa Tlahuel; and a wide circle of family and friends who will carry his memory in their hearts.
In accordance with his wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held to honor Ricardo's life and legacy. Though he has departed from this world, his spirit will continue to inspire and guide those who knew and loved him.
Ricardo Abrajan's life was a testament to the power of love, resilience, and dreams. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, wisdom, and culinary artistry that will continue to inspire and nurture those who were fortunate enough to know him. May he rest in peace, his heart forever wrapped in the warmth and love of his cherished memories.
