It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Ricardo A. Mason, Sr., who peacefully departed this world in his sleep on June 25, 2026, at Autumn Lake Nursing Home in Laurel, Maryland. Born on May 13, 1952, in Washington, DC, Ricardo was a treasured soul whose life was rich with love, laughter, and resilience. Ricardo was the cherished son of the late Slyvester A. Mason, Jr. and Mary F. Mason-Divers. He was predeceased by his parents, his brothers Barron and Keith Mason, his beloved daughter Kimberly Summer, and his son Ricardo Mason, Jr. Despite these profound losses, Ricardo's spirit remained unbroken, a testament to his strength and unwavering positivity. Ricardo's journey began in the bustling heart of Washington, DC, where he attended DC public schools and proudly graduated from Eastern High School in 1972. His career path was diverse, showcasing his adaptability and work ethic. He ultimately found a fulfilling role as an engineer at the Governor's Mansion in Annapolis, MD, where he took great pride in his work and the community he served. Outside of work, Ricardo's passion for car racing was a defining feature of his life. He delighted in the thrill of the race and the camaraderie of the track, where he spent many joyful hours, making memories that would last a lifetime. Ricardo's legacy lives on through his surviving children, son Michael S. Mason in Florida and daughter Kayla Mason in North Carolina. His joy in life was further enriched by his five grandchildren and one great-grandchild, with a host of neices and nephews each of whom brought him immense pride and happiness. He is also lovingly remembered by his brothers Reginald, Troy, and Dennis, and his sisters Brenda, Valerie, Nicole and Joyce, who shared in the countless memories and milestones that marked Ricardo's life. As we say our goodbyes, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to the nursing staff and administrative team at Autumn Lake Nursing Home. Your compassionate care and kindness provided comfort to Ricardo during his stay, and for that, we are eternally grateful. Ricardo's life was a tapestry of love, adventure, and dedication, and he will forever be remembered for his gentle spirit, his unyielding determination, and his boundless love for his family and friends. While our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we find solace in the memories and the legacy he leaves behind. May he rest in eternal peace, his spirit forever racing through the stars.
