Rhonda M. Jackson

October 11, 1961 — May 28, 2026

It is with profound sadness and heartfelt love that we announce the passing of our beloved Rhonda M. Jackson, who departed this world peacefully on May 28, 2026, surrounded by the warmth and comfort of her family after a courageous battle with illness. Rhonda was born on October 11, 1961, in the vibrant city of Manhattan, NY, to the late Mort Moreland and Rhoda (Magood) Moreland, who undoubtedly greeted their cherished daughter with open arms in the hereafter. Rhonda's journey through life was marked by grace, kindness, and an indomitable spirit. She leaves behind a tapestry of memories woven with love and laughter, shared with her devoted husband of 40 years, Marvin D. Jackson Sr., whom she met under the most serendipitous circumstances at Central State University. Their love story began with a simple handshake—Marvin, a Campus Police Officer, removed his glove to greet Rhonda, and she knew right then that he was the one she would marry. Together, they built a life rich with love and raised three incredible children: Brittany (Malik) Harris, Marvin D. (Rayven) Jackson, and Dawn Kenerly. Rhonda's legacy is beautifully carried forward by her brother Robert “Paris” Williams, her cherished grandchildren Cameron Jackson-Harris, Londyn Rash-Harris, Brionna Kenerly, Kamora Burns, and her great-grandchildren, Desean and Juelz. Her best friend of over 30 years, Rhonda Phillips, as well as her cousins Jan and Julie Beard, and a host of bonus kids, family, and friends, will forever hold her memory in their hearts. A proud graduate of Central State University, Rhonda earned her Bachelor’s degree in English in 1986, a testament to her dedication and love for learning. She went on to inspire countless young minds as a substitute teacher in the Dayton school district and offered guidance and support as a counselor at the children’s juvenile hall. Her career was a reflection of her boundless compassion and her unwavering commitment to helping others. Rhonda was a woman of many passions, a die-hard fan of the New York Yankees and the Ohio State Buckeyes, who never missed an opportunity to cheer on her favorite teams. She found joy in the rhythm of music and dance, often breaking into song with her infectious joy and effervescent spirit. Her laughter was as memorable as her willingness to share hard truths, always with the aim of uplifting those around her. Rhonda’s kindness knew no bounds. She was fiercely authentic, never shying away from being herself, and she had an unparalleled ability to connect with people. She was a beacon of strength, a woman who would give the shirt off her back if you needed it, yet always kept it real. As we celebrate Rhonda's life, we hold onto the lessons she taught us about love, resilience, and the importance of being true to oneself. Her family extends their deepest gratitude to the friends and family who have shown their love and support during this difficult time. Your kindness and compassion have been a source of comfort and strength. A memorial service will be held to honor Rhonda’s life and legacy. Details will be shared with loved ones in the coming days. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Rhonda’s memory to a charity of your choice, spreading the kindness that she so freely gave. Though our hearts are heavy, we take solace in knowing that Rhonda’s spirit will continue to inspire and guide us. Her love remains a guiding light, and her memory a treasure we will carry with us always.
