Brunswick, ME - Reynold M. Bergquist, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on April 24, 2026, at the age of 82. Born on March 30, 1944, in Brunswick, ME, Reynold was the beloved son of the late Elmer and Marjorie Bergquist. He is now reunited with them in eternal peace. Reynold's life was a tapestry of love, dedication, and service. At the heart of this tapestry was his unwavering devotion to his wife, Darlene Bergquist. Together, they celebrated 60 beautiful years of marriage, a journey that began on March 26, 1966, in Altus, OK. Their love story was one filled with laughter, adventure, and a deep, abiding companionship that saw them through all of life's seasons. A proud veteran, Reynold served his country with distinction in the U.S. Air Force for eight years. His tenure saw him stationed in Altus, OK, Bangor, ME, and Shreveport, LA, where he rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant. His service was marked by dedication and honor, qualities he carried into his professional life. After his military service, Reynold embarked on a career as a Communications Systems Technician, where he worked for nearly 30 years with Western Electric, AT&T, and Lucent Technologies. His colleagues remember him as a diligent worker with a sharp mind and a ready smile. He retired in 1999, leaving behind a legacy of professionalism and camaraderie. Reynold's true joy, however, came from the life he built with Darlene and their two daughters, Melissa (Nate) Hoy of Topsham, ME, and Michelle (Chris) Haranczak of San Marcos, TX. He was a devoted father who instilled in his children the values of kindness, integrity, and resilience. Reynold's love extended to his grandchildren, Alicia Chesley, Amber Hildebrandt, and Phoenix Ren, who were his pride and joy. He cherished every moment spent with them, imparting wisdom and joy that they will carry with them forever. Reynold was known far and wide for his kindness and his warm, welcoming smile. He had a unique gift for making everyone he met feel valued and at home. This quality endeared him to many, and his friendships were numerous and lasting. In his retirement, Reynold found great joy in traveling across the United States with Darlene in their RV. It was during these adventures that he truly lived his passion for exploration and discovery, making countless memories that he held dear. Reynold is survived by his loving wife, Darlene; his daughters, Melissa and Michelle; his grandchildren, Alicia, Amber, and Phoenix; his siblings, Dawna Bergquist, Patty Melville, and Scott Bergquist; and a host of extended family and friends who will miss him dearly.
