It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Resita Ann Goodson on April 27, 2026, at her cherished home in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Born on December 14, 1964, in Fort Wayne, Resita was a beacon of love, laughter, and unwavering faith. She was the cherished daughter of the late Lula Mae Hutchins and Richard Hutchins.
Resita's life was a testament to her deep devotion to family, her community, and her faith. She was a beloved mother to her children, Garrett (Jessica) Hutchins and Eunice Hutchins, and a treasured grandmother to nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Her laughter and warmth were the cornerstones of her family gatherings, especially during summer barbecues, where her presence was both a comfort and a joy.
Resita was predeceased by her parents, Lula Mae and Richard Hutchins, and is survived by her loving husband, Bobby Goodson. She will be deeply missed by her siblings: brothers John (Carol) Hutchins, Isaac Hutchins, Richard Hutchins, and sister Gloria (Thomas) Williams. Her legacy of love and kindness will be carried forward by her grandchildren Asiaonah Hutchins, Sincier Hutchins, Dewayne Hutchins, Jazmen Ramsey, Demantre Hutchins, Mariah Hutchins, Garron Hutchins, and her many nieces and nephews including Marion (Kastella) Hutchins, Antron Ellis, Lashawn Charlton, Johnny Hutchins, Sakeya Hutchins, Shondra Hutchins, Shynell Hutchins, and Latasha Walker.
Resita was a proud alumna of Northside High School and dedicated 23 years of her professional life to the Fort Wayne Newspapers, where she was respected for her commitment and work ethic. Her passion for shopping and fine dining was well known, but her true joy lay in the simple pleasures of life—cherishing every moment with her family and friends.
Her faith was an integral part of her life, guiding her with prayer and instilling in her a spirit of hope and compassion that she shared with everyone she met. Her legacy is one of love, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to her family.
A celebration of Resita's life will be held on May 15, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the Kingdom Door Christian Worship, located at 1004 E Pontiac Street, Fort Wayne, Indiana. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who have reached out with prayers and support, especially to those who have offered comfort to her daughter during this difficult time.
Resita Ann Goodson's life was a story of love, faith, and resilience. Although she is no longer with us, her spirit will continue to inspire and guide her family and friends. May her memory be a blessing to all who knew her.
