It is with heavy hearts but profound gratitude for a life beautifully lived that we announce the peaceful passing of Renee Young, a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, on May 16, 2026, in Los Angeles, California. Born on July 18, 2026, Renee touched the hearts of many with her boundless compassion, infectious laughter, and unwavering dedication to her family and community.
Renee was the cherished daughter of Mae Frances McLaughlin and Clarence Aaron Young, who preceded her in death along with her beloved daughter, Kenyatta Dorshay Mitchell; her brothers, William and Tony McLaughlin; her grandparents, Virginia and Jessie Crook; and her Aunt Linda Lee Crook. Despite experiencing profound loss, Renee's spirit was unyielding, radiating warmth and love to those around her.
Her educational journey began at Ascot Elementary, continued through Carver Junior High, and culminated at Thomas Jefferson John C. Fremont High School. Demonstrating remarkable determination, Renee earned her Associate Teacher Credential at Los Angeles Southwest College and later returned to Redlands Adult School to obtain her high school diploma. Her commitment to lifelong learning was a testament to her resilience and dedication.
Renee's professional career was a reflection of her nurturing spirit. She served as a nursing assistant at The Veterans Hospital and as a caregiver at the Department of Aging Home Health in Westwood, CA. Her passion for education led her to the Fredrick Douglas Child Development Center, where she excelled as an assistant teacher, teacher, and site facilitator. Renee also made significant contributions to the Los Angeles Unified School District as a special needs assistant and worked as a relative caregiver with the Department of Children and Family Services. Later, she moved to San Bernardino, CA, where she was employed with the San Bernardino College District as a custodian and part-time youth leader with the San Bernardino YMCA Caps Program.
A staunch advocate for health awareness, Renee was deeply involved in supporting Breast and Prostate Cancer survivors. She organized annual events to raise awareness and funds, driven by a profound commitment to making a difference in the lives of others. Her passion for these causes was truly inspiring and touched countless lives.
Renee had a special talent for bringing people together, as evidenced by her cherished family events, most notably "MAE DAY," which celebrated the bonds of family and friendship. Her creativity shone through in her unique game, "The Circle of Love," ensuring that no one left her gatherings empty-handed. Her selflessness, humor, and love of life were evident in all she did, making her an irreplaceable part of her community.
The family of Renee Young expresses heartfelt gratitude to all who sent cards, flowers, called, or simply sat with them during this difficult time. Your kindness and support are deeply appreciated.
Though Renee's time with us was brief, her legacy of love and generosity will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew her. May she rest in eternal peace, embraced by the love she so freely gave to others.
