Rene was a devoted husband to Elena Salazar Santos, with whom he shared 50 beautiful years of marriage. Together, they built a legacy of love, raising their children Jose Alvarez, Jesse Alvarez, Andrea Ostos, Rene Santos Jr., and Richard Santos. His life was further enriched by his siblings, Alicia, Mary, Frankie, Yolanda, Martha, and Sammy, who together created a tapestry of cherished memories and enduring bonds. Rene was predeceased by his parents, Efrain and Ross Santos, and his brothers, Lupe Santos and Junior Santos. Their memories remained a guiding force in his life, and he spoke of them often with fondness and reverence. A proud veteran, Rene served in the US military, where he was honorably discharged, carrying with him a deep sense of duty and patriotism. Following his service, Rene dedicated over 25 years as a skilled diesel mechanic, a career that not only showcased his remarkable talents but also his tireless work ethic. Outside of work, Rene's heart found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He had a passion for diesel mechanics and relished the time spent at family gatherings by the lake, where stories were shared, laughter echoed, and memories were made. His sense of humor and infectious laughter were a testament to his vibrant spirit, bringing joy to those around him. Rene's legacy includes 25 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, each a testament to the enduring love and values he imparted. His generosity, kindness, and unwavering support will forever be the foundation of his family's unity and strength. A service to celebrate Rene's life will be held on July 17, 2026, at 9:30 AM at the Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home, located at 1490 B Street, Merced, CA 95351.
