Reginald Marlin Parrott

July 17, 1953 — June 3, 2025

Reginald Marlin Parrott, affectionately known as "Reggie" by family and friends, peacefully departed from this world on June 3, 2025, at the age of 71. Born on July 17, 1953, in DeSoto Parish, LA, Reggie was the cherished son of the late Calvin and Hattie Parrott. He was the youngest of their children, and from an early age, he was enveloped in the warmth of a loving and vibrant family. Reggie's journey through life was marked by dedication, laughter, and a deep love for those around him. He attended All-Saints School for his early education and later graduated from All-Saints High School in 1971. His pursuit of knowledge continued at Northwestern State University, where he studied Public Relations and Communications. Although he chose to pause his formal education to embrace family life, his passion for learning and communicating never waned. Reggie's heart was captured by his beloved wife, Mary Parrott, with whom he shared a lifelong partnership filled with love and devotion. Together, they raised two beautiful daughters, Lakeisha and Regina, who were the light of his life. His professional journey was as commendable as his personal one; he worked diligently at Vancouver Plywood Co., Mid-Continental, and Exxon Pipeline in Longview, TX, where he remained until his retirement. A faithful member of the Rising Star Baptist Church, Reggie embraced his faith with sincerity and joy. His ability to make people laugh was a gift he shared generously, leaving a lasting impact on everyone he met. Reggie's humor and kindness were often shared with his longtime friend and co-worker, Jimmy Wayne Smith, with whom he shared countless cherished memories. Reginald Parrott was preceded in death by his parents, Calvin and Hattie Parrott, five siblings—D.L., John, Otis, E. Dorothy, and Margie—and his nephew, Aaron. He leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth through his surviving family: his devoted wife, Mary; his children, Dishion, Lakeisha, Regina, Sharolyn, and DeReginald; his goddaughter, LaTania; his siblings, Gene (Marilyn) Parrott and Dorothy (Wilford) Scott; and his grandchildren, Torion, Tiffani, Wynter, Daijah, Meshach, Nyla, and Regina. He is also survived by two great-grandchildren, five god-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A service to honor Reggie's life will be held on June 14, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Zion Hill #2 Baptist Church. The family invites those who loved Reggie to join them in celebrating his life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice in his memory. In the words of Reggie himself, shared just a day before his passing, "always give God the glory." May these words resonate in our hearts as we remember a man who lived with grace, humor, and an unwavering faith. Reggie's spirit will forever be cherished by all who knew him.
