In loving memory, we honor the life of Regina R. Covin, a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who peacefully departed this world on June 10, 2026, at the age of 71. Regina’s journey began on May 9, 1955, in the welcoming arms of Albany, Georgia, born to the late Lugene and Brenson Glover, who nurtured her with love and instilled in her the values she carried throughout her life.
Regina was a beacon of love and strength, known for her unwavering dedication to family, faith, and community. She was predeceased by her beloved parents and a host of dear family members, including Robert Hawkins, Eddie Lee Davis, Johnny Solomon, Ella Blackshire, Missouri Whitaker, James Hawkins, Philip Hawkins, and Gwendolyn Westin. While we mourn their absence, we find solace in knowing they are reunited in eternal peace.
A proud graduate of Daugherty High School’s Class of 1973, Regina's thirst for knowledge led her to attend Jones College and later pursue further education at UMA. Her tenacity and dedication to learning were evident as she was set to graduate on October 3, 2026, with a commendable GPA of 3.57.
Regina dedicated thirty-one years of her life to Shands Hospital, where her compassion and professionalism touched countless lives until her retirement in 2018. Her commitment to service extended beyond her career, as she was a former member of New Community Baptist Church and a devoted member of Greater St. Mark Baptist Church, where her faith flourished and inspired those around her.
Regina's heart was a tapestry of love, woven with her cherished children, Ricardo Covin (Angie), Travis Covin (Andrieana), and Nick Covin, who continue to carry forward her legacy. Her pride and joy were further amplified by her twenty-three grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren, each a testament to the rich family heritage she nurtured.
Her siblings, including Clarence Jackson and Gloria Stiles, along with special friends such as Carrie Green, Diane Winifred Price, Nadine Lewis, and Ida Whittfield, were pillars of support and companionship throughout her life. Regina's warmth extended to a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, classmates, church members, co-workers, and many friends who now grieve her loss.
Regina was a woman of many passions, with a profound love for her family and friends, and an unwavering devotion to her church, visiting it seven days a week. Her adventurous spirit found joy in traveling, exploring new places, and creating memories that her loved ones will forever cherish.
In accordance with Regina's wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held to celebrate her life and legacy. While we mourn her absence, we also celebrate the indelible mark she left on our hearts.
Her journey has not ended but merely transformed, as she now watches over us with grace and love. Regina R. Covin's spirit will forever illuminate the lives she touched, a testament to a life well-lived and a love well-shared.
