Rebecca Hansford, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home on October 9, 2026, after bravely facing heart and lung cancer for over a year. Born on September 18, 1959, in Louisville, Kentucky, Rebecca brought warmth, kindness, and love to all who knew her. Rebecca was the cherished daughter of James and Dorothy Wigginton, who predeceased her, along with her brothers Tody and Kenneth Thurman, her son Frank Franzell, and her husband William Hansford. Despite the profound loss of these family members, Rebecca's spirit remained unbroken, and she continued to be a pillar of strength and love for those around her. She is survived by her devoted son John Franzell, her beloved grandchildren Holly, Breanna, John Jr., Hannah, Frank, Elizabeth, and Emillia, and her precious great-grandchildren Jayden, Mackenzie, and John III. Rebecca also leaves behind her loving sisters Karen, Diane, Laura and Cathy, and her brother Vincent. Her family was the center of her world, and she dedicated herself tirelessly to their happiness and well-being. Rebecca was an active and cherished member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles for 26 years. Her involvement in the organization brought her immense joy, and the relationships she formed there were as close as family. She loved cooking and had a special passion for dogs, always finding joy in their companionship. Rebecca was happiest when surrounded by her friends and family, sharing laughter and love. Her personal qualities of selflessness and an unwavering willingness to help others defined her character. Rebecca was a beacon of support and care, always ready to lend a hand or offer a comforting word. Her dedication as a mother to her two sons was unmatched, and her legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire those she leaves behind. A celebration of Rebecca's life will be held on October 24, 2026, at 3:00 PM at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, located at 113 W. Maple St., Jeffersonville, Indiana 47130. The family invites all those who knew and loved Rebecca to join them in honoring her remarkable life and the indelible impact she made on the hearts of many. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Rebecca's memory to a cause close to her heart. Her compassion and generosity will be remembered and cherished by all who were fortunate to know her.
