Raymond attended Irmo High School and later graduated from the University of South Carolina in Columbia, where he studied biology and geology. Raymond was known affectionately as "Tank" to those who knew and loved him, a testament to his strength and resilience throughout life's journey. He was a man of many interests, finding joy in the simple pleasures of life such as taking long walks, exploring new places, and cultivating beauty in his garden. These moments allowed him to connect deeply with the world around him and with those he cherished most. Above all, Raymond was a devoted family man. He is survived by his beloved stepson, Ian Hoffman. Raymond's nurturing spirit extended to his dear sister, Mary Tuten, his brother, Ronald Tuten, his sister, Artemis Grillo, and his nephew, Ty Grillo.
