Raymond Paul Slining

Raymond Paul Slining, lovingly known as Ray, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2026, surrounded by the warmth and love of his family. Born on July 3, 1940, in Los Angeles County, California, Ray lived a life characterized by devotion to family, faith, and nature. Raised by his parents, Raymond Slining Sr. and Gertrude West, Ray was preceded in death by both of them, leaving behind a legacy that continues in the hearts of those who knew him. He is survived by his beloved wife, Hazelene Esther Woodall Slining, with whom he shared a remarkable 55-year marriage, filled with love, companionship, and cherished memories. Together, Ray and Hazelene nurtured a beautiful family, including their son Scott Troy Slining, and Ray's children from a previous marriage, Peggy Dulz and Raymond Slining Jr. He also embraced his stepchildren, Tammy Heiner Tanner and Douglas Heirner, as his own. Ray's family extended to his siblings, Hank Slining and Virginia Virdin, and his treasured grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy to his life. His heart was vast, and he cherished each member. An alumnus of Victor Ville High School, Ray went on to join the California State Contractors, dedicating his career to construction contracting and later, inspection. His work was not just a job but a testament to his commitment to building and safeguarding communities. Ray was a man of faith, actively participating in the Seventh Day Adventist Church, where he found spiritual solace and community. His love for the mountains and forests was well-known, as was his affection for animals, which was a reflection of his gentle and compassionate nature. His family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to Hospice,Home Health and Seniors Helping Seniors, for their caring and comforting support during Ray's final days. Their presence was a source of comfort and strength. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Ray's honor to a charity of choice, celebrating his spirit of generosity and love for others. Raymond Paul Slining will be remembered not just as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, but as a man whose life was a testament to love, faith, and kindness. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those he touched.
