Raymond Lee Shedd
April 23, 1947 — May 20, 2026
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Raymond Lee Shedd, who left this world peacefully, surrounded by his beloved family, on May 20, 2026. Raymond was born on April 23, 1947, in Snellville, Georgia, to Annie and Ladson Taft Shedd. His life was a testament to the power of love, family, and a tireless work ethic.
Raymond was a proud graduate of South Gwinnett High School, a place where he laid the foundation for a lifetime of hard work and determination. He dedicated over 40 years to the painting business, a career that not only showcased his dedication and skill but also his unwavering commitment to providing for his family.
In the quiet moments away from his profession, Raymond found immense joy by the water, casting lines and sharing stories as an incredible fisherman on the sun-dappled shores of Panama City Beach, Florida. It was here, in the embrace of nature, that he found peace and fulfillment.
Raymond’s greatest pride and joy were his children, Chevy Lee Shedd, Shannon Lee Shedd, and Michelle Chastian, and his cherished grandchildren, Elijah James McDaniel, Grace Hope Shedd, Bailey Shedd, and Savannah Shedd. Known for always being with his grandchildren, particularly Grace and Elijah, Raymond's presence was a constant source of love and laughter in their lives. His gentle guidance and endless patience will forever be remembered.
Family and friendship were the cornerstones of Raymond’s life. He was a beacon of support to his close family friends, Patricia Marshall, Kista Dawn McDaniel, and Shannon Hargrave, who stood by him through every joy and challenge. His life was a beautiful tapestry of shared moments and cherished memories.
Raymond was predeceased by his loving parents, Annie and Ladson Shedd, his brother Tony Shedd, and dear Melissa Hope Bailey. Their spirits will forever remain intertwined with his, in a legacy of love and family unity.
To those who knew him, Raymond was a man of humility and humor, with hands that never stopped working — whether it was building a family or crafting a life filled with love and laughter. His family lovingly shared, “He did not simply raise a family. He built one, with patience, humor, and hands that never stopped working.”
In celebrating his life, we honor a man whose gentle spirit touched everyone he met. His legacy is one of a life well-lived and a father deeply loved. Raymond’s memory will forever be a guiding light for his family and friends, reminding us of the strength found in unity, the joy in simple pleasures, and the enduring bond of family.
A memorial service to honor Raymond's life will be held at a later date, where stories will be shared, laughter will echo, and love will envelop all who gather in his memory. Until then, may we find comfort in knowing that Raymond’s spirit is at peace, casting his lines in heavenly waters, forever surrounded by the love he so generously gave.
Rest in peace, dear Raymond. Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure. You are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.
