June 20, 1938 — June 19, 2026

It is with great sadness and fond memories that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, Raymond Lee Robinson. Raymond, known affectionately as Ray, peacefully departed this world on June 19, 2026, just one day shy of his 88th birthday. He was surrounded by the love and warmth of his family at Baptist Reynolds Hospice House in Collierville, Tennessee. Ray was born on June 20, 1938, in the charming town of Virden, Illinois, to Alfred and Mabel (Smith) Robinson. He was raised on a farm along the iconic Route 66, where he cultivated a strong work ethic and a love for tinkering that would last a lifetime. Ray often reminisced about his childhood, sharing stories of farm life and the chores that shaped his character. A proud graduate of Virden High School, Ray embarked on a journey of service to his country by joining the United States Navy in 1959. He served with dedication aboard the USS WASP Aircraft carrier as part of the Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron Eleven, earning the Good Conduct Medal 1st Award before being honorably discharged in 1963. It was during his time at the Millington TN Naval Base that Ray met his future wife, Julietta (Judy) Ralph. Their hearts intertwined, and they were married on a crisp winter day, January 9, 1960, in Memphis, Tennessee. Together, Ray and Judy built a beautiful life, blessed with two cherished daughters, Linda (Steven) Noble and Donna (Chris) Dunning, both of Collierville, TN. Ray's professional journey led him to a fulfilling 37-year career with Dover Elevators, which later became Thyssenkrump, where he ascended from working in the factory to becoming a respected department manager. Ray's diligence and dedication were admired by all who had the pleasure of working alongside him. He and Judy were charter members of PeaceTree United Methodist Church, previously known as Crossroads UMC and St. James UMC. Their commitment to their faith and community was evident through the numerous committees they served on. Ray was honored with the Volunteer of the Year Award for his invaluable contributions, including greeting, hospitality, and ensuring Sundays were complete with coffee and donuts. Ray's hands were never idle, and his heart was always full. Whether rebuilding a car engine as a young teen, constructing a cabin from the ground up in Moscow, TN, or delving into hobbies such as upholstery, picture framing, woodwork, puzzles, reading, and cross-stitch, Ray's curiosity and skill knew no bounds. His love for travel, fostered by his naval experiences, took him to places like Germany, Rhode Island, and Key West, creating memories that would last a lifetime. Above all, Ray cherished his family. He was a devoted grandfather to his four grandsons, Nick (Whitney) Noble, Matt Noble, Connor Dunning, and Colin Dunning, and a loving great-grandfather to Elaina (5) and Luke Noble (3). Ray and Judy were steadfast supporters, attending every ballgame, sporting event, and program, leaving an indelible mark on their grandsons' lives. Ray is predeceased by his parents, Alfred and Mabel Robinson, and his brothers, Leroy, Donald, and Walt Robinson. He leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter, survived by his wife of 66 years, Judy, his daughters and their families. A celebration of Ray's life will be held on July 25, 2026, with visitation at 10:30 a.m. and the service to follow at 11:00 a.m. at PeaceTree United Methodist Church, 9315 E. Shelby Drive, Collierville, TN 38017. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial donations be made to PeaceTree UMC or The Alzheimer’s Association. Raymond Lee Robinson's life was a testament to love, service, and dedication. His memory will forever be cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing him. As we bid farewell, we celebrate a life well-lived, knowing he now rests in eternal peace.
