Born on July 27, 1955, in the vibrant city of New York, Raymond was a cherished son to Barbara and Clarence Hungerford, both of whom he joins in eternal rest alongside his brothers Clarence Hungerford Jr., Thomas Hungerford, and Robert Hungerford.
Raymond's life was a testament to dedication and love, both to his family and his community. He is survived by his loving children, daughters Bobbi Jo Buttler, Michelle Yerkes, Alicia Hungerford, and his son, Dylan Hungerford. His legacy lives on in the hearts of his six beloved grandchildren, who were a constant source of joy and pride for him. Raymond also leaves behind his brothers Richard and Mark Hungerford, who shared many cherished memories with him throughout the years.
Raymond's career was marked by his unwavering commitment and hard work. For 29 years, he was a familiar face at Milford Bowling Lanes, where he shared his passion for the sport with others. His dedication extended to the Delaware State Fairgrounds, where he served in security for 26 years, ensuring the safety and enjoyment of countless visitors. In a remarkable 40-year tenure, Raymond retired from the Harrington School District, where he touched the lives of many students and colleagues with his kindness and dedication.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Raymond was a man of simple pleasures and profound joys. He found happiness in the camaraderie of bowling, the tranquility of sitting by the pool, and the laughter shared with his brothers, children, and grandchildren. Christmas held a special place in his heart, a time when his home was filled with the warmth and love of family gatherings.
Raymond's life will be celebrated at a memorial service on November 8, 2025, at 8:30 AM. Friends and family are invited to gather at Thomas E. Melvin & Sons Funeral Home, located at 15522 S. Dupont Highway, to honor a life well-lived and a man deeply loved.
