Raymond G. Nuñez Sr.

It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Raymond G. Nuñez Sr., who left this world on June 16, 2026, at the age of 75. Raymond peacefully departed, surrounded by the love of his cherished family, after a courageous battle with acute myeloid leukemia. Born on September 16, 1950, in the vibrant town of Nuevolon, Mexico, to Antonio and Benancia Nuñez, Raymond's journey through life was marked by love, dedication, and unwavering strength. Raymond's early life in Nuevolon was filled with the warmth of family and the values instilled in him by his parents, Antonio and Benancia, both of whom preceded him in death. He shared a special bond with his siblings, and though he now joins his brother Antonio Nuñez Jr. and nephew Anastacio Nuñez in eternal rest, his memory will forever be cherished by his surviving brother Juan Nuñez, and sisters Mary Garcia, Josephine Calvo, and Petra Nuñez. After graduating from Harlondale High, Raymond answered the call to serve his country, enlisting in the U.S. Army in 1969. His bravery and dedication took him to Vietnam, where he served with honor, earning several commendations, including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Commendation Medal, and Good Conduct Medal. Upon his honorable discharge in 1971, Raymond returned home, carrying with him the indelible experiences of his service. In 1971, Raymond married the love of his life, Gloria Piedra, and together they embarked on a remarkable journey that spanned 55 beautiful years. Their marriage was a true testament to love and partnership, and together they raised their children, Delicia (Robbie) Timm, Sandra (Joseph) Lobato, and Raymond Jr. (Jenny) Nuñez, with devotion and care. Although predeceased by his beloved daughter Laura (Nuñez) Fletcher and grandson Austin Timm, Raymond's legacy of love continues through his surviving children, 12 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren, who were the light of his life. Professionally, Raymond found fulfillment as an auto mechanic, a career that perfectly aligned with his love for working on cars. He was a skilled craftsman, always eager to lend a hand or share his knowledge with others. An avid fisherman and hunter, Raymond cherished the outdoors and never missed an opening day, relishing the serenity and excitement that nature provided. Raymond's warmth, kindness, and unwavering strength left an indelible mark on all who knew him. He was a man who believed that family was everything, and his love for his family was evident in every facet of his life. He found immense joy in spending time with his grandchildren, sharing stories, laughter, and wisdom that will be treasured for generations. As we bid farewell to Raymond, we remember a man whose heart was as expansive as the landscapes he loved. His legacy will live on in the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know him. Though he has left this physical world, his spirit and teachings will continue to guide and inspire his family and friends. A celebration of Raymond's life will be held at a later date, where we will gather to honor his memory and the profound impact he had on all our lives. In the meantime, we find solace in knowing that Raymond's journey continues in a place of peace, reunited with his loved ones who have gone before him.
