Raymond Earl Gressett

August 15, 1968 — June 25, 2026

Raymond Earl Gressett, beloved husband, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. Passed away on June 25, 2026, at the age of 57. Born on August 15, 1968, of Wichita, Kansas, Raymond was the cherished son of the late Donald Ray and Nancy Kay Roberts Gressett. Raised in Hickory, Mississippi, Raymond graduated from Hickory High School in 1986. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1989, where he served for eight years, reaching the rank of E8. His role in building missile heads was a testament Raymond pursue a degree in Electrical Engineering a field where he excelled and found great purpose. His career took him to NASA, where he spent five remarkable years as a mentor and trainer, shaping the minds of new engineers and instilling in them a passion for computer programming. In 2003, Raymond married the love of his life, Carol Keen Gressett. Together, they built a home filled with love and laughter in Alabama and Mississippi. Their union, which spanned 22 beautiful years, was a testament to their unwavering commitment and shared devotion. Raymond was a man of profound faith, and his love for God was reflected in his passion for music. An avid guitar player, he found joy in worshipping through music and praise, using his talents to bring glory to God. He was also a proud member of the Ham Radio community, where he found camaraderie and shared his love for communication. Known for his generous spirit and ability to connect with others, Raymond never met a stranger. He could effortlessly start a conversation about God, music, or computers, leaving a trail of warmth and inspiration wherever he went. His kind and giving nature touched the lives of many, and his legacy of compassion will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. Raymond is survived by his devoted wife, Carol, his loving sister, Samantha Kaye Gressett Espey and her husband Brian, and his cherished nieces and nephews: Lee Espey and his wife Savannah; Miranda Espey Loper and her husband Billy; and Leia Espey. He was also a beloved great-uncle to Gabriel, Lainey, Eli, Kedian, Nadia, and Atticus . His memory will be forever treasured by several cousins and countless friends who were like family. A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held to honor Raymond's legacy, at Oakland Baptist Church 8577 Hickory Little Rock Rd. Decatur, MS 39327 providing a time for loved ones to gather and celebrate the man who brought so much joy and warmth into their lives. As we bid farewell to Raymond, we hold on to the beautiful memories and the indelible mark he left on our hearts. May he rest in eternal peace, embraced by the love of God and reunited with his parents in the heavens above.
