It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Raymond Clyde Nowland Jr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who departed this world on July 26, 2026, at the age of 61. Ray courageously battled stage 4 colon cancer, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and resilience. Born on May 5, 1965, in Elkton, Maryland, Ray was the cherished son of Carolyn S. Gravenor (Nowland) and Raymond C. Nowland Sr. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Julie Rae Marrero, Lisa Renee Nowland, and Traci Lynn Garcia, as well as his nephews Raymond C. Willey and Shawn C.Whitt. Raymond is survived by his devoted wife, Karen, with whom he shared a loving partnership for over two decades, culminating in marriage on March 4, 2022. Together, they created a beautiful family, including three stepdaughters, Brandy Yanacek (Collin), Paige Yanacek, and Erin David (JD), and nine treasured grandchildren. A man of many talents, Ray was the proud proprietor of Ray's Reconditioned Appliances, a business he successfully owned and operated for 30 years. His entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to quality service earned him the respect and admiration of his community. Ray was known for his unique sense of humor that never failed to bring a smile to those around him. He had a penchant for singing, often delighting those nearby with his own inventive lyrics, a testament to his one-of-a-kind personality. Beyond his professional endeavors, Ray found joy in the simple pleasures of life, cherishing every moment spent with his family and close friends. He leaves behind a loving family, including his sisters, Gladys Medina (Angel) and Krista Mireles Camarillo (Jesus), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews who will forever hold his memory dear. A service celebrating Ray's life will be held on August 1, 2026. Family and friends will gather to honor his memory and the indelible mark he left on their hearts. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Ray's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, an organization close to his heart.
