It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Raymond Carlton Owings, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Raymond passed away peacefully at home on July 18, 2026, in the loving presence of his devoted wife and children. He was 86 years old. Born on June 27, 1940, in Jacksonville, Texas, Raymond was the cherished son of Raymond and Evie Owings. Preceding him in death are his parents, Raymond and Evie, as well as his brother, Cecil, and dear grandparents, Pa and Ma Cecil. Raymond shared an extraordinary life with his beloved wife, Frankye Thompson, whom he married on September 1, 1961. Their union, which would have celebrated 65 years this coming September, was a testament to enduring love and partnership. Together, they raised three wonderful children: Ray, Jennifer, and John, who were the pride and joy of Raymond's life. Raymond's professional life was marked by dedication and hard work. For 31 years, he was a valued employee at the Kelly Springfield Tire Company, where his colleagues admired his work ethic and commitment. Upon retirement, he embraced his passions for flying and reading, finding joy in the endless skies and the worlds within books. His interest in law enforcement and local history was well known, as was his newfound love for animals, inspired by his cherished dog, Gabriel. Family was at the heart of Raymond's world, and he was deeply devoted to them. His granddaughter, Heather Harper, and her husband, Jake, were a source of immense pride, as were his great-grandchildren, Grayson, Connor, Korbin, and Hadlee, whose laughter and joy brought boundless happiness to Raymond's later years. Raymond will be remembered for his determination to live life on his own terms, his unwavering love for his family, and his gentle spirit that touched everyone he met. His legacy continues in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. A celebration of Raymond's life will be held on July 24, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Boren-Conner Funeral Home, located at 550 South Doctor M. Roper Parkway. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Grace Fellowship Church in honor of Raymond's generous spirit and commitment to helping others. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Three Oaks Hospice for their compassionate care during Raymond's final days, as well as to their church family at Grace Fellowship for their unwavering support and love.
