It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Raymond Brookins, a cherished father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who left this world on October 22, 2026. Born on July 11, 1949, in Louisville, Kentucky, Raymond was a beacon of love and laughter to all who had the privilege of knowing him. Raymond was the beloved son of the late Mary Lou Brookins and Ronald Taylor. He was preceded in death by his dear sisters, Sherlyn Brookins and Dorthia Brookins. Despite the heartaches of these losses, Raymond's spirit remained unyielding and full of grace. A man of simple joys, Raymond found immense pleasure in the company of his neighbors, spending countless hours on his front porch, where the air was filled with stories, laughter, and friendly banter over card games. His warmth and wit made him a light to everyone, and his presence was a comfort to those in need. He leaves behind a legacy of love through his sons, Raymond Scott and Dewayne Scott. Raymond's pride and joy were his 26 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, who will carry forward his stories and values. He is also survived by his brother, Lester Brookins, along with numerous cousins and dear friends who will miss him dearly. The celebration of Raymond's life will be held on October 28, 2026, at 12:00 PM at Hill Street Baptist Church, 2203 Dixie Highway. Friends and family are invited to gather in remembrance of a life well-lived and to share in the stories and memories that made Raymond so special to us all. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Hill Street Baptist Church and the Jones family for their unwavering support during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, they kindly request that donations be made to a charity of your choice, in honor of Raymond's generous spirit and his lifelong commitment to helping others. Raymond Brookins will forever be remembered for his kindness, his joyful spirit, and his unwavering support to those around him. May his soul find eternal peace, and may his memory be a blessing to all who knew him.
