Ray Thomas Hebert

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ray Thomas Hebert, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, who peacefully left this world on July 24, 2026, at the age of 94. Born on September 21, 1931, in Abbeville, Louisiana, Ray was a beacon of love, wisdom, and kindness throughout his long and fruitful life. Ray was the cherished son of Beulah and Pervis Hebert, who have predeceased him, along with his beloved sisters and brothers. He is survived by his devoted children, Joan (John Stout) and Richard (Susie), who brought him immense pride and joy. His legacy continues with his cherished grandchildren, Erin Thatcher and Kathryn Stout, and his precious great-grandchildren, Matthew and Avery Thatcher. Ray is also lovingly remembered by his sisters, Delores Hebert and Shirley Craig. In 1954, Ray married the love of his life, Doris Gardner, and together they embarked on a beautiful journey that spanned over 64 years, filled with love, laughter, and shared dreams. Their union was a testament to enduring love and partnership, raising two wonderful children and creating countless memories along the way. Ray was a man of remarkable intellect and perseverance. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Southwestern Louisiana Institute in 1953. His pursuit of knowledge led him to the University of Texas Medical School, where he earned his Doctor of Medicine in 1964, followed by a residency in Radiology at Baylor University Center in 1971. A patriot at heart, Ray served his country with honor during the Korean War as a member of the Army Chemical Corps at the Rocky Mountain Arsenal in Denver, Colorado. His service was a reflection of his dedication to duty and his unwavering commitment to his fellow citizens. Professionally, Ray began his career as a plant engineer for Dow Chemical in Freeport, Texas. After his military service, he returned to Dow before pursuing his passion for medicine. His work as a radiologist was marked by compassion and excellence, earning him the respect and admiration of colleagues and patients alike. Ray was a devoted member of St. James Episcopal Church in Conroe, where he found spiritual solace and a community of faith-filled friends. In his leisure time, he found great joy in ranching at his family farm in Shepherd, Texas, a hobby that allowed him to connect with nature and nurture his love for the land. As we celebrate Ray's extraordinary life, we are reminded of his kindness, his unwavering dedication to family and community, and his capacity to bring warmth and light to all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of those he touched. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Ray's honor. This gesture will continue his legacy of generosity and compassion, supporting causes close to his heart. Ray Thomas Hebert's life was a testament to the power of love, service, and dedication.
