October 21, 1965 — June 8, 2026

Ray Townsend, a devoted family man, veteran, and innovator, passed away on June 8, 2026, at the age of 60, due to complications from surgery. Born on October 21, 1965, and raised in upstate New York. Ray's life was a tapestry of dedication, adventure, and profound love for those around him. Ray was the beloved son of Mrs. Jean Townsend and the late William Townsend. He grew up with a strong sense of duty and integrity, qualities that would define his life and career. Serving in the United States Marine Corps in artillery, Ray's military service instilled in him a strong work ethic and a deep sense of camaraderie, traits he carried with him throughout his life. In Colorado in 1989, Ray married his love, Cheryl. Together, they shared 37 years of marriage filled with joy, resilience, and countless adventures. Their partnership was a testament to love's enduring power, and together they raised three wonderful children in Colorado who were the pride of Ray's life. His legacy continues to shine bright in his three cherished grandchildren, who brought him immense joy and laughter. After his honorable discharge from the Marine Corps, Ray embarked on a distinguished career in plastics and injection molding, particularly in medical parts. His passion for innovation was evident in the several patents he held for various devices, showcasing his knack for problem-solving and his commitment to improving the world around him. Ray found a new family at Cambridge Security Seals back in NewYork, where his presence was as big as his heart. Along the way in his plastics career, he had colleagues that became lifelong friends. An avid hunter and motorcycle enthusiast, Ray found peace and happiness in the woods and on the open road. He had a lifelong love for learning about new technologies, always eager to explore the next frontier. Yet, his greatest delight came from the simple joys of playing with his beloved dog and spending time with family and friends, where his infectious humor and warmth left an indelible mark on everyone he met. Ray's strength of conviction and willingness to help anyone in need, without question, made him the cornerstone for family and friends. His intelligence and strong problem-solving skills were matched only by his generosity and love. To know Ray was to know someone who would stand by you, ready to lend a hand or to share a laugh. He is survived by his devoted wife Cheryl, their three loving children Brianna (Caleb) Onley, Katy (Selso) Luna and Zahne Townsend, three adoring grandchildren Railey, Alden and Rosalie, his dear mother Jean, and a brother, Cliff. Ray also leaves behind a multitude of extended family and friends who will forever cherish his memory and carry forward his legacy of love and kindness. The Townsend family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Montefiore Hospital for their compassionate care during Ray's final days. They also wish to thank Cambridge Security Seals for providing Ray with a workplace that felt like home. Though Ray has left us physically, his spirit remains forever in our hearts. His life was a testament to the power of love, dedication, and the simple joys of life. As we say goodbye, we hold onto the memories and the indelible impact he had on all our lives. "Always FOREVER in our HEARTS."
