In Loving Memory of Raul Egas It is with heavy hearts and cherished memories that we announce the peaceful passing of Raul Egas on June 28, 2026, at Cabell Hospital in Huntington, WV. Born on September 13, 1936, in the vibrant town of Riobamba, Ecuador, Raul's life was a testament to joy, laughter, and love—qualities that he shared generously with all who had the privilege of knowing him. Raul was the beloved son of the late Jose Severo Egas and Elina Cevallos de Egas. His journey through life was marked by deep familial bonds and a zest for living that he inherited from his parents and shared with his siblings, Fannicita Engel, Mario Egas, and Lucita Thacker. He was predeceased by his brother, Oswaldo Egas, with whom he shared countless childhood adventures. In the tapestry of Raul's life, love wove the strongest threads. He was predeceased by his first wife, Florence Marie Egas, and his beloved partner of 44 years, Mary Egas, with whom he created a life filled with laughter and affection after meeting in Chicago, IL. Their union was blessed with beautiful memories that spanned decades. Together, they raised a loving family and enjoyed the simple pleasures of life—grilling, playing cards, and relishing soccer matches, whether on the field or from the comfort of their home. Raul was a devoted father to his surviving daughters, Elita Vasconez, Elizabeth Egas, and Debra Egas, who will carry forward his legacy of warmth and humor. He was the proud grandfather to six wonderful grandchildren: Cristina Vasconez, Omar Vasconez Jr., Macie Egas, Trey Egas, Isabella Fleischmann, and Maverick Sillman. His legacy further extends to his three great-grandchildren: Giovanni Vasconez, Pierce Vasconez, and Lillian Nelson, who brought him immense joy and pride. Professionally, Raul was a visionary in the field of electronic heat sealing, serving as a creative director. His work was not only a testament to his intelligence and creativity but also a reflection of his commitment to innovation and excellence. Known for his outgoing and humorous personality, Raul was a beacon of light and laughter. He was the life of every party, always ready with a joke or a kind word. Raul's ability to find a friend in any room was a testament to his genuine nature and infectious spirit. He leaves behind a world a little brighter for having been in it. A private funeral ceremony will be held, honoring Raul's wishes and respecting the family's desire for an intimate farewell. In this time of grief, the family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Cabell Hospital for their compassionate care and support during Raul's final days. Raul's life was a masterpiece of love, laughter, and legacy. As we bid him farewell, we hold in our hearts the joyous memories and the enduring impact of a life well-lived. His spirit will continue to guide and inspire us, reminding us to cherish each moment and to share our love freely, just as he did.
