Raul Calderon
March 28, 1948 — March 13, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Raul Calderon, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who departed this world peacefully on March 13, 2026, at his home after a courageous seven-year battle with cancer. Born on March 28, 1948, in San Buena Ventura, California, Raul's life was a testament to resilience, love, and service.
Raul was the cherished son of the late Eva Velasquez, whose nurturing spirit and unwavering support shaped the compassionate and outgoing man Raul became. A graduate of Oxnard High School in 1966, Raul served his country with distinction in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1969, earning three bronze medals for his bravery and dedication.
Following his military service, Raul dedicated himself to furthering his education, achieving an Associate Degree from Valley College in 1973 and later earning a Bachelor's degree from the University of Phoenix in 2002. His commitment to learning and growth was mirrored in his professional life, where he diligently worked for the Gas Company for 30 years and later contributed to the Lancaster School District for 14 years after his retirement.
Raul's life was enriched by his marriage to Norma Calderon, with whom he shared 47 beautiful years. Together, they nurtured a loving family, raising two daughters, Rene Coronado and Regina Harris, who, along with his beloved wife and cherished grandchild, survive him and carry forward his legacy of love and laughter.
A man of many talents and boundless energy, Raul was a gifted musician, known for his skillful percussion and conga playing. His love for music was only rivaled by his passion for engaging with people and sharing stories. He found joy in life's simple pleasures, often spending time with his family and watching sunsets at the beach.
Raul's generous spirit extended beyond his family and friends to his community. He served at the Dream Center International from 1992 to 1995 and was honored for his contributions in 2009, reflecting his enduring commitment to helping those in need.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Raul's remarkable life at a service to be held on April 18, 2026, at 10:30 AM at the Lancaster United Methodist Church, located at 918 West Ave. J, Lancaster, CA 93534. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Soup Kitchen Memorial Fund at the Lancaster United Methodist Church, continuing Raul's legacy of compassion and service.
The Calderon family finds comfort in the words of John 3:16, "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him shall not die but have everlasting life." This verse, dear to Raul's heart, speaks to the faith that guided him throughout his life.
Raul Calderon will be remembered for his infectious humor, his love for others, and his unwavering faith. Though he has left our midst, his spirit continues to inspire and uplift those who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
