Randy Nelson

November 19, 1952 — July 26, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Randy Nelson, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who left this world on July 26, 2026. Born on November 19, 1952, in Denver, Colorado, Randy was the cherished son of Roy Nelson and Margaret Loyd. He was their only child and carried forward their legacy with pride and dedication. Randy shared a life filled with love and laughter with his devoted wife, Connie Throop. Together, they built a beautiful family, raising their four children—Justin, Jarred, Kristen, and Kaitlin—in the communities of Parker and Elizabeth, Colorado. His family was his pride and joy, and he was a doting grandfather to his five grandchildren, who adored their "Grandpa Randy." For 36 remarkable years, Randy dedicated his career to the South Metro Fire Department, where his bravery and commitment to saving lives earned him numerous awards and accolades. His colleagues and those he aided in times of need will remember him as a hero who always put others first. Randy was a man of many talents and interests. His skills were as vast as they were varied, spanning from farming and welding to building fire trucks and construction. There was nothing Randy couldn't achieve once he set his mind to it. His intelligence and resourcefulness were widely admired, but it was his quick wit and goofy humor that endeared him to everyone he met. Randy had a unique ability to light up any room, and his infectious spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Family, friends, and all whose lives he touched are invited to celebrate Randy's life at a memorial service on September 28, 2026, at 1:00 PM. The service will be held at Encompass Church, located at 11150 Hilltop Road, Parker, Colorado. It will be a time to honor and remember the extraordinary life of a man who was loved by so many. As we say goodbye to Randy, we hold on to the memories and the love he left behind. His legacy of kindness, humor, and bravery will continue to inspire us all. May he rest in peace, knowing he was cherished beyond measure.
