Randy Bogart
August 26, 1953 — December 17, 2024
Randy Bogart, a beloved figure in the St. Helen community, passed away peacefully at home on December 17, 2024. Born on August 26, 1953, in Bay City, Michigan, Randy carried the spirit of his hometown with him throughout his life, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Randy was the cherished son of the late Nick and Betty Bogart, and the devoted brother to his predeceased sisters, Diane and Gene Earl, and Pam Marentette. His legacy continues through his son, Randy Bogart Jr.; his sister, Glenda Wells; his brother, Joe and wife Jacky Bogart; and a host of nieces and nephews who adored him. Though he had no grandchildren, Randy's life was enriched by the presence of his extended family and countless friends.
A graduate of Roscommon High School, Randy was known for his tireless work ethic. He spent his early years helping his parents with their fruit market by driving to the Eastern Market for supplies. Later, he became a skilled brick mason, a profession he took immense pride in. In a testament to his craftsmanship, he was often recommended for concrete work by multiple clients. Randy's industrious spirit was further showcased when he owned Powers Lodge in downtown St. Helen, a venture he lovingly passed on to his niece and nephew, Glen and Theresa Hubbard, in 2024.
Randy's love for the outdoors was unmatched. As a young boy, he would ride his bicycle between St. Helen and Rose City, and as an adult, he embraced the freedom of the open road on his motorcycle. His dream was to explore Michigan's state parks in a van with his loyal dog, Blaze, a testament to his adventurous soul.
Randy was known for his honesty and steadfast loyalty. A friend for life, he was always ready to lend a helping hand. His strength, both physical and moral, was legendary, and his love for his family and the town of St. Helen was profound. He was a true ambassador for his community, always eager to share the beauty and charm of his hometown.
Randy's family takes solace in knowing he passed in the comfort of the home he cherished, surrounded by loved ones and memories. The presence of family and the support of Hospice provided peace during his final days.
