Ramona Hernandez Figueroa

December 6, 1933 — October 8, 2026

Ramona Hernandez Figueroa, a beloved matriarch and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2026, at the age of 92. Born on December 6, 1933, in Manor, Texas, to Donanciano Hernandez and Dolores Rendon, Ramona lived a life full of love, dedication, and grace. Ramona was lucky to marry Benjamin Figueroa on April 16, 1950, at Cristo Rey Catholic Church in Austin, Texas. He adored her all of his life. Together, they built a family rooted in faith, compassion, and enduring strength. Though Benjamin predeceased her, their union remained a constant source of inspiration for their growing family. Throughout her life, Ramona was devoted to her family, always putting their needs above her own. She was survived by her sister Herlinda Martinez. She was a source of wisdom and comfort to her children: Elizabeth F. Ruiz, Gary Figueroa and his wife, Andrea, Mona Tyler and her husband, Terrance. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Rene Martinez and his wife, AnaMarie, Lydia R. Diaz and her husband Edward, Cesar O. Ruiz and his wife, Adriana, Javier F. Ruiz, Christopher Figueroa and his wife Tiffany, Michelle Walker and her husband Christopher, Benjamin Figueroa and his wife Sarah, Amanda Breseno and her husband Matt, Jaime Picon and his wife Clara, Anthony Picon and his partner Trevor, and Gabriella Picon and her husband Miguel. She was further blessed with 27 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren, each of whom she adored and cherished deeply. Ramona's life was marked by her resilience and unwavering faith. She faced the loss of her daughter Lydia Figueroa, her son-in-law Cesar V. Ruiz, her husband Benjamin, and her siblings Queta Lopez, Sandy Hernandez, Houston Hernandez, Jesse Hernandez, and Nellie Meyers with grace and strength, always carrying their memories close to her heart. Her home was a sanctuary for family gatherings filled with laughter, love, and her renowned cooking. Her kitchen was a place where stories were shared, and traditions were passed down through generations. Ramona's warmth and generosity extended to all who knew her, and she was often sought out for her wise counsel and comforting presence. Ramona's family wishes to honor her memory by continuing to uphold the values she instilled in them: love, kindness, and devotion. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice, reflecting Ramona's giving spirit and her commitment to helping others.
