In Loving Memory

Ralph Thorne
August 11, 1942 — September 20, 2026
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ralph Thorne on September 20, 2026. Born on August 11, 1942, in Pittsburgh, PA, Ralph's journey on this earth was marked by love, laughter, and an unwavering zest for life. He departed this world peacefully, surrounded by the warmth of his family and friends.
Ralph was the last born son of the late William and Naomi (Garrett) Thorne. He was preceded in death by his parents, all nine of his siblings, his wife Susan Thorne, and his last wife of 24 years, Diana Thorne. Ralph's life was a testament to love and resilience, having been blessed with two beautiful marriages.
In September 1978, Ralph united in marriage to Susan Curry, with whom he shared a nurturing home filled with love and laughter. Together, they opened their hearts to many foster children, notably raising their foster son, Diego Brazil, with care and devotion. Ralph and Susan remained united in marriage until her passing in 1990. In January, 1998, Ralph once again united in marriage to Diana McCray, gaining three stepchildren, as well seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. They remained faithfully united until Diana's passing in 2021.
A dedicated worker, Ralph spent over 25 years with M. O'Herron Construction Company in Pittsburgh, PA. He took pride in his role as a construction worker and often spoke fondly of his days wielding a jackhammer. His colleagues remember him not just for his work ethic, but for the warmth and humor he brought to the workplace.
Ralph's life was filled with music, dancing, and travel. His commanding voice made him a wonderful singer, while his love for dancing kept spirits high among those around him. A fervent Pittsburgh Steelers fan, Ralph never missed a game, relishing every moment spent supporting his favorite team.
Ralph's memory will be forever cherished by his foster son, Diego Brazil of Miami, Florida; his stepdaughter Cassandra Singletary and her son Antwon Thomas of McKeesport, PA; his stepdaughter Tiffany Savage, her husband Ronald, and their children Ronald Jr. and Anna from Central Texas; and his stepson Andre Taylor and his children Andre Jr., Jaiden, Ondraya, and Teyler of Pittsburgh, PA. He is also survived by his niece Shirley Thorne of Pittsburgh, PA, along with numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and loved ones from Pittsburgh to Texas and various other places.
Ralph was known for his humor, warmth, and a laugh that could fill a room with joy. In memory of Ralph, the family requests donations be made to a charity of your choice. They also extend their deepest gratitude to Pastor Billy and First Lady Consuelo Lewis, Associate Pastor Donnie and Minister Yalonda Walker, the Faith Christian Church family, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporate, Mu Delta Zeta chapter of Killeen, TX, as well as the staff of Sinceri Western Hills Assisted Living and Halcyon Hospice for their outstanding care and support during Ralph's final days.
