Copenhaver, a remarkable man whose journey came to a peaceful close on March 5, 2026, at the age of 89, after a courageous battle with prostate cancer. Born on November 14, 1936, in the idyllic town of Marlinton, West Virginia, Ralph was the beloved son of John and Mary Copenhaver. His life was a testament to kindness, resilience, and an enduring commitment to family and service. Ralph's early years were shaped by the values instilled by his parents and the vibrant community of Marlinton. In 1956, he answered the calling to serve his country and joined the United States Army Reserves. With unwavering dedication, Ralph served honorably until 1962, embodying the principles of integrity and duty that he carried throughout his life. Ralph's personal life was marked by profound love and cherished relationships. He was first married to Patricia Murdock, with whom he shared the joy of parenthood. Later, in 1994, Ralph found the love of his life in Linda Copenhaver. Together, they embarked on a journey of 43 wonderful years, creating a home filled with warmth, laughter, and unwavering support. As a proud father, Ralph was blessed with seven children: Pam Copenhaver, Bret Copenhaver, Dawn Copenhaver, Randy Copenhaver, Susan Copenhaver, Michael Chieffo, and Robert Chieffo. His legacy continued to grow through the generations, as he welcomed 15 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren into his ever-expanding family. Ralph's love for his family was boundless, and he delighted in the shared stories, traditions, and milestones that enriched their lives. Ralph's unwavering spirit and kindness left an indelible mark on all who knew him. His gentle humor, compassionate nature, and steadfast loyalty endeared him to friends and family alike. Ralph's presence was a source of strength and comfort, and he will forever be remembered as a guiding light in the lives of those he touched. A celebration of Ralph's life will take place on March 14, 2026, at 3:00 PM at the Cremation Society of Virginia, located at 5265 Providence Road, STE 104, Virginia Beach, VA 23464. Family and friends are warmly invited to come together to honor Ralph's memory and pay tribute to a life well-lived. In this time of remembrance, Ralph's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who have been a part of his journey. Your love, support, and shared memories have been a source of solace and strength. Ralph will forever remain in our hearts, cherished and remembered with love.
