April 3, 1943 — July 7, 2026
Ralph Arthur Hine, a devoted husband, decorated veteran, and cherished friend to many, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2026, at the age of 83. Born on April 3, 1943, in Cleveland, Ohio, Ralph lived a life defined by service, love, and an unwavering commitment to his country and those around him.
Ralph's journey began in the heart of Ohio, where he graduated from Lakewood High School in 1961. Driven by a deep-seated sense of duty, he went on to earn a degree from Miami University in 1965. Shortly after, he embarked on a distinguished career in the United States Air Force. In 1968, Ralph earned his pilot wings and bravely served three tours in Vietnam, piloting B-52s, KC-135s, and EC-47s. His valor and dedication earned him numerous honors, including the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal, and Humanitarian Service Medal. Ralph retired from the Air Force in 1985, leaving behind a legacy of courage and professionalism.
Beyond his military achievements, Ralph was a pillar of his community. A member of Ridglea Blue Lodge, the Valley of Fort Worth Scottish Rite, and Moslah Shrine, Ralph was deeply involved in various organizations throughout his life. His participation in Elks Lodge 124 and the Fort Worth American Legion Post 297 in Benbrook, as well as his status as a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8235 in Fort Worth, underscored his commitment to camaraderie and service.
Ralph's spirit was perhaps most vividly displayed during the holiday season, when he donned the suit of Santa Claus and spread joy throughout his community. His visits to nursing homes, children’s schools, and gatherings were a testament to his generous heart and infectious warmth.
Ralph's life was enriched by his deep and abiding love for his wife, Edna, with whom he shared countless adventures across the globe following his retirement. Their travels together were a reflection of their shared joy and devotion, creating memories that will be cherished by all who knew them.
Ralph is survived by Edna, the love of his life, who stood by his side through every triumph and challenge. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know him.
A graveside service to honor Ralph's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on July 13, 2026, at Davis/Marchand Cemetery, located on Old Pascagoula Rd, Grand Bay, AL. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charitable organization of your choice in Ralph's memory.
