Ralph Albert Panza

February 15, 1929 — April 30, 2026

It is with profound sadness and deep gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Ralph Albert Panza, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and cherished friend. Ralph was born on February 15, 1929, in Niagara Falls, New York, and peacefully departed this world on April 30, 2026, at Thunderbird Hospital after a brief illness, at the age of 97. Ralph was the devoted son of Ralph (Raffaele) Panza and Angeline (Orlando) Panza, both of whom have preceded him in death. He was also predeceased by his loving wife of 69 years, Marian (Cataline) Panza, his brothers John and Frank Panza, and his sister Helen Panza. Ralph's life was a testament to enduring love, resilience, and dedication to family and country. Ralph's journey began in Niagara Falls, where he graduated from Niagara Falls High School. Driven by a deep sense of duty, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1946, serving with honor in both the Korean and Vietnam conflicts. His distinguished military career spanned over two decades, culminating in his retirement as a Chief Warrant Officer 2 in 1968. During his service, Ralph specialized in radar and missile systems, leaving a lasting legacy of dedication and bravery. On October 31, 1950, Ralph married the love of his life, Marian L. Cataline, at the Naval Station Great Lakes, Illinois. Together, they built a life rich in love and family, welcoming three cherished children: Sharon Kaye (Panza) Fischer, Steven James Panza, and Robert Alan Panza. Ralph and Marian's legacy of love extends to their eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, who were a constant source of joy and pride. Following his military career, Ralph embarked on a new chapter, graduating from Arizona State University and embarking on a successful career at Honeywell. His work took him from New York City to Phoenix, Arizona, where he continued to contribute to the field of mainframe computers until his retirement. In retirement, Ralph embraced life with vigor and joy. He was a devoted volunteer, known affectionately as "Ralphie the Clown" at Thunderbird Hospital, bringing smiles and magic tricks to patients and staff. A devout member of St. Raphael's Catholic Church, Ralph also lent his talents to Theater Works by building sets, and shared his love of literature at the Peoria Public Library. His passion for gardening, shared with Marian, and his love of murder mysteries, both in books and on screen, were a testament to his curious and lively spirit. Ralph was a man of unwavering kindness, always ready with open arms and a helping hand. His warmth and generosity extended beyond his family, touching the lives of friends and community members alike. He was an active member of the Retired Officer Association and a steadfast supporter of various charities. A celebration of Ralph's life will take place on June 1, 2026, at 10:30 AM at St. Raphael's Catholic Church, located at 5525 W. Acoma Dr., Glendale, AZ 85306. His family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Thunderbird Hospital, whose care and kindness will remain "Forever in our Hearts." Ralph Albert Panza leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and community. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. As we say goodbye to a remarkable man, we hold close the memories of his laughter, his wisdom, and the enduring love he shared with us all. Ralph's loving family.
