It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Raghuvir Vitthalbhai Patel, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Raghuvir departed this world unexpectedly on May 18, 2026, at the age of 70, due to a tragic accident in his residential parking lot. He was backed up by a truck while walking unaware, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and love.
Raghuvir was born on July 26, 1955, in the quaint village of Dantali, Gujarat, India. He was the beloved son of Vitthalbhai and Vimlaben, who predeceased him, and the younger brother of Rajanikant. Raghuvir's early years in India were marked by a keen curiosity and a passion for learning, traits that he carried with him throughout his life.
After completing his studies in civil engineering at B&B Polytechnic, Raghuvir embarked on a journey that would lead him to New York City. There, he dedicated his professional life to the New York City Civil Engineering Department until his retirement in 2019. His commitment to his work was matched only by his dedication to serving others; he spent many nights working with the state hospital system, providing his expertise and support to those in need.
Raghuvir was a man of simple pleasures, known for his down-to-earth demeanor and kind nature. His love for tea was legendary among family and friends, and many cherished conversations were had over a steaming cup of chai. He found joy in the company of his family, always putting their needs above his own and providing them with unwavering love and support.
Raghuvir is survived by his devoted wife, Manju Rani, who was his steadfast companion and source of strength. He leaves behind his beloved son Parth, his wife Jitixa, and their children, as well as his cherished daughter Gaytri, her husband Purshhotam Kumar, and their children. Raghuvir took immense pride in his four grandchildren, who brought an abundance of joy and laughter into his life.
A private funeral ceremony will be held to honor Raghuvir's memory, as per the family's wishes. While the ceremony is private, the family appreciates the outpouring of love and support from all those whose lives were touched by Raghuvir's generosity and warmth.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Raghuvir's memory to a charity of your choice, as a way to continue his legacy of helping others.
Raghuvir Vitthalbhai Patel will be deeply missed but never forgotten. His spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew him, and his legacy of kindness, love, and service will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of crossing paths with him.
