February 23, 1946 — March 19, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Raffaele J. Aversa, fondly known as "Ray," who peacefully departed this world on March 19, 2026, at the age of 80. Born in Titusville, PA, on February 23, 1946, Ray was a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend, whose life was an inspiring journey of love, resilience, and dedication. Ray was the cherished son of the late Joseph Anthony and Arleene Marcella Bowles Aversa, who instilled in him values of hard work and devotion to family. He now joins his beloved parents in eternal rest, leaving behind a legacy of love and fond memories. In 1993, Ray married the love of his life, Michelle, and together they built a beautiful life filled with love and laughter over their 33 years together. Ray was the proud father of four cherished children: Chelsie Aversa and her husband Andy, Desiree Aversa, Deanna Flowers, and Raffaele Aversa. His family was his pride and joy, and his love for them was boundless. Ray was also the adoring grandfather to Nichole Flowers, who brought immense happiness to his life. Ray's life was a testament to his dedication and passion for his work as a truck driver, a career he embraced for over 50 years. As the owner and operator of Aversa & Son Truck, Ray found joy and fulfillment on the open road, with the hum of the engine and the smell of diesel fueling his spirit. Though an injury eventually sidelined him from driving, his passion never waned, and he fondly reminisced about his trucking days until his last breath. A man of simple pleasures, Ray found joy in the great outdoors, especially hunting with his son. These cherished moments spent in nature were a source of peace and connection for him, reflecting his appreciation for life's quieter, yet profound, gifts. Ray is survived by his dear wife Michelle, his children, and his granddaughter, who will all carry forward his legacy of love and kindness. His siblings, Samuel Aversa, Joseph (Elaine) Aversa, Alex (Kathy) Aversa, Concetta Aversa (Thomas Porter), and Joleene (Eric) Alderman, along with many nieces and nephews, will forever remember Ray's generous spirit and the warmth he brought into their lives. His best friend and constant companion, Patty Poo, was his "sweet pea," offering him unwavering loyalty and companionship. In honoring Ray's wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held with close family and friends. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Hospice of Crawford County, whose compassionate care provided comfort during Ray's final days. While Ray's physical presence will be deeply missed, his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His love, laughter, and wisdom have left an indelible mark and will continue to inspire those he leaves behind. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Ray's memory to a cause close to his heart, ensuring that his legacy of compassion and generosity will continue to touch lives for years to come.
