Rafer Calvin Collins, a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully at Northside Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, on August 7, 2026, at the age of 59. Born on September 10, 1966, in the warm embrace of Louisiana, Rafer lived a life enriched by the love of family and the joy of simple pleasures. Rafer was the cherished son of the late Amelia Alice Collins, and he was welcomed into the world with love and affection. He was preceded in death by his devoted mother and his siblings, Tabitha Collins, and brothers Rene, Ronald, and Raymond Collins. Rafer's memory will continue to be a guiding light for his surviving sisters, Edna Berry, Theresa Collins, and Willene Collins, along with his many nieces, nephews, and God children who brought him endless joy and pride. A graduate of Bay High School in 1986, Rafer was known for his gentle spirit and kind heart. His dedication to his work was evident during his nine-year tenure at Northside Hospital, where he contributed to the team in both Environmental Services and later Food Services. His colleagues and friends at Northside remember him for his unwavering work ethic and his ability to bring warmth and kindness to those around him. Rafer's life was a testament to the power of humility, compassion, and resilience. He faced life's challenges with grace and found solace in the company of family and friends. His laughter was infectious, and his generous spirit left an indelible mark on all who knew him. While Rafer's physical presence will be dearly missed, his spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him.
