August 5, 1981 — April 20, 1999

It is with sorrow and love that we announce the passing of Rachel Joy Scott, a radiant beacon of kindness and creativity, who was taken from us far too soon on April 20, 1999, at the tender age of 17. Born on August 5, 1981, in the vibrant city of Denver, Colorado, Rachel was a cherished daughter of Darrell Scott and Beth Nimmo. She spent her short but impactful life in Littleton, Colorado, where she touched countless hearts with her kindness and compassion. Rachel's life was run by her passions and dreams. A student with a keen interest in the humanities, she was very interested in forensics, performing arts, and philosophy, preparing to graduate with "The Class of 1999." Her dreams reached beyond the classroom. She was captivated by the allure of the stage, dreaming of becoming a Hollywood actress. Rachel was a devoted member of her school's drama club, where her enthusiasm and dedication shined brightly. She was a fan of classic films, always finding inspiration and joy in the stories they told. In the wake of her tragic passing due to gun violence at her school, Rachel's family has chosen to honor her memory through a public funeral ceremony, broadcasting the tragedy for millions to see. The family kindly requests donations to The Rachel Joy Scott Memorial Fund (RJSM), an organization dedicated to carrying forward Rachel's message of kindness and compassion.
