It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Rachel Louise Hester, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, who departed this world on June 16, 2026, enveloped by the love of her family at Clarity Hospice in Baton Rouge, LA. Born on May 25, 1958, in Los Angeles, CA, Rachel lived a life full of love, unwavering dedication, and boundless compassion, leaving behind a legacy that will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew her. Rachel was the beloved daughter of the late Peggie Jo and Roy C Thomas, who undoubtedly welcomed her into the heavenly embrace along with her grandsons Connal and Christopher and great-grandson Jensen Conaway, predeceased family members who she held close to her heart. Rachel's unwavering love and devotion extended to her surviving family, who were the cornerstone of her life. She leaves behind her devoted husband, Charles Hester, with whom she shared a beautiful marriage filled with love and promise. Together, they walked through life with a bond that truly exemplified 'til death do us part.' Rachel was the loving sister of Mickey and William Thomas, and a cherished mother to her children, Deanna Boudreaux and Allison Nichols, and her son Mike. Her warmth and kindness were also felt by her sons-in-law, Gerald Boudreaux and Shannon Nichols. Rachel was blessed with the joy of her grandchildren—Addison Watson, Layton Nichols, Caragen Conaway, Eain Battles, and Nikki—who brought immense pride and happiness into her life. Her love extended even further to her great-grandchildren, Jasper and Scarlett Conaway, Gabriel, Remington, and Macie Battles, and Kannon, Kashtyn, and Krhett Watson, all of whom filled her days with laughter and light. Her family circle also included her grandson-in-law, Justin Conaway, and granddaughter-in-law, Sabrinea Battles, as well as her beloved dogs, Bella and Sassy, who were treasured companions. Rachel's professional life was marked by her passionate commitment to children. Her work with CASA or Child Advocacy Services was a testament to her love and dedication to ensuring a better future for those in need. Her life's mission was to be a beacon of hope, and her impact will continue to be felt in the lives she touched. A devoted member of Central Baptist Church for many years, Rachel was a beloved fixture in her community, known for her kindness, compassion, and unwavering faith. Her presence was a source of strength and comfort to all who knew her. Rachel's interests reflected her zest for life and adventure. She was an avid diamond art enthusiast, finding beauty and tranquility in her creations. Her love for travel took her across the country and beyond, with cherished memories of journeys to England and Scotland. She was eagerly planning another trip to Scotland, a place that captured her heart. Rachel's personal qualities were as radiant as her spirit. She was a light in this world, embodying kindness, determination, and a fierce love for her family. Her presence was a gift, offering a listening ear and a comforting embrace to those in need. A service to celebrate Rachel's life will be held on June 20, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Central Baptist Church, located at 17017 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA 70819. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the team at Oschner and Clarity Hospice for the compassionate care they provided to Rachel in her final days. "Death leaves a heartache no one can heal; love leaves a memory no one can steal." Though we mourn her loss, we find solace in the beautiful memories she leaves behind.
