It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rachel B. Hernandez, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Rachel passed away peacefully on May 20, 2026, at the age of 72, after courageously battling an illness. She was surrounded by the love and support of her family and the dedicated staff at Ken Medical Center Hospital, to whom the family expresses their heartfelt gratitude for their compassionate care. Born on June 4, 1953, in Los Angeles, California, Rachel was the cherished daughter of the late Jose and Rosa Galvan. She was predeceased by her parents, her brother Richard Galvan, and her son, Ramiro Hernandez III. Despite these losses, Rachel's spirit remained resilient and her heart, ever open. Rachel's life was a testament to love and devotion, most beautifully reflected in her marriage to Ramiro R. Hernandez. United in matrimony on April 2, 1982, in Bakersfield, California, Rachel and Ramiro shared 44 years of unwavering partnership. Together, they raised a family enriched with laughter, learning, and boundless love, nurturing six children who were the pride and joy of Rachel’s life. Her sons, Raymond Chavira, Joe Hernandez, Jeremy Hernandez, and Andra Hernandez, and her daughters, Diana Reyes and Stephanie Sanchez, along with her brother Joe Galvan, will fondly remember her warmth and the light she brought into their lives. Rachel's legacy of love continues through her 16 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, each of whom she adored and inspired with her kindness and generosity. Rachel dedicated 25 years of her life to nurturing young minds as a preschool teacher in Wasco, California. Her warm smile and innate ability to make everyone feel welcome left an indelible mark on her community. Colleagues, students, and parents alike were touched by her gentle spirit and commitment to the wellbeing of all those she encountered. Her family invites those who knew and loved Rachel to celebrate her life at a service on June 12, 2026, at 10:00 AM, hosted at Greenlawn Funeral Home Southwest, located at 2739 Panama Lane, Bakersfield, California. In celebrating Rachel’s legacy, we come together to honor the extraordinary woman who was, and always will be, a beacon of love and kindness in our hearts. In Rachel's memory, the family kindly requests donations be made to a charity of your choice, in lieu of flowers. Rachel B. Hernandez will forever remain in our hearts, a testament to the beauty of a life lived with love, compassion, and unwavering grace.
