It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Quitman Loyd Jr., a cherished father, uncle, and friend, who departed this life on August 27, 2026, at the age of 74. Born on January 14, 1952, in Detroit, MI, Quitman was a man whose life was marked by intention, purpose, and an unapologetic zest for the moments he shared with those he loved. Quitman was the beloved son of Quitman Loyd Sr. and Mary Eliza Rudd. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Belinda, whom he met in 1970 and married in 1975. They shared a deep and enduring love until her passing in 2007. Together, they raised a beautiful family with their children, Lamont (Dionne), Shem Walker, Tymeasha Walker, Quitman III, and Belinda, who all survive him. He was also a proud grandfather to 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, whose lives will forever be touched by his legacy. A graduate of Kettering High School, Quitman was a man of many talents and passions. He was musically inclined, often finding solace and joy in composing music during his spare time. His melodies were a reflection of the love and warmth he shared with his family and friends. Quitman's life was a testament to family values and living with authenticity; he never hesitated to answer the call, regardless of the title or role he held within the family. Quitman was predeceased by his parents, Quitman Sr. and Irene Virginia Hentz, his brothers Lindsay, William, and Frederick, sisters Cheryl and Patricia, and his firstborn son, Jerome. His spirit now joins theirs, and his life remains a shining beacon of love and dedication. A memorial service celebrating Quitman's life will be held on September 12, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the Rivercrest Arms Community Center, located at 23560 Denton St. Friends and family are invited to gather and honor his remarkable journey. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests donations be made to a charity of your choice, in memory of Quitman's generous spirit and his commitment to making a difference in the world. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who have offered condolences, sent flowers, and lifted them in prayer during this time of sorrow. Your support and love have provided comfort and strength as they navigate this profound loss. Quitman Loyd Jr.'s memory will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
